may 4th - 10th

spring has finally come to NYC!!! FINALLY!!! i was beginning to feel much like the lyrics of this song (click here to listen). then the sun came out and i have a whole new lease on life.

today there is an article in the ny times that gave me much inspiration. it was about Frank Oscar Larson, an amateur photographer who chronicled life in nyc in the '50s. he had a regular 9 to 5 so all of his work was done on nights and weekends. To see some of his photographs click here. no one knew of Mr. Larson's talent until 2 years ago when his daughter-in-law found the negatives. enjoy!

now here are some springtime in ny pics from me:

my toms

so friday i ate lunch in the park. there is a school nearby and there were a few pick up games going on. notice the kid with the ball. i was amazed at how well he could run with his pants falling down like that.

this is the jail by my house. it looked so pretty in the sun.

saturday night we went to see mrnorth. colin, the lead singer, is...well...he's like a rv kind of. my friends discovered him playing at this irish place. they started going all the time and eventually became friends with colin. we were all happy to hear that he came to the memorial this year.

more pics of mrnorth (mr. north)

this tree was so odd but the photo doesn't really capture it. it is all ugly and deformed and then there are cherry blossoms on the top.

i was playing around with my zoom lens here.

this family was cute

ok....hysterical! i was walking down union and this couple looked like the perfect shot. so i was just aiming and shooting. i didn't look in the viewfinder at all. i'm so glad i captured his judd nelson in the breakfast club moment.

well til next time.
